There are a few things in the Bible that are so important to a proper biblical lifestyle that we must revisit them repeatedly, yet these scriptures are not talked about often enough. Proverbs 18 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. This statement is so profound that it covers our thoughts and our speech, which influences our actions. Very often, our speech is more destructive than our actions. This tells us also that the creative power of life and success, as well as its demise, lies with the tongue. Therefore, the tongue must be used with care, not just when dealing with others but also with oneself, for ‘as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.’ Tell me about the constant thoughts of the heart, and I will tell you who and what you are or will become. It’s simple biblical mathematics.
