The Bible tells us in the Gospel of Luke that Jesus, as a child, was lost by his parents. It took them three days to find him. He was found in the last place anyone would look, in the church. Today, many children, likewise, are being lost by their parents who, like Mary and Joseph, find themselves in great sorrow. Just like Jesus was found in the house of God, many who are in the house of God today, the place we call church, are lost. Just as Jesus was found by his parents, so those who are lost need to be found by Jesus, for He came to seek and to save those who are lost in sin and iniquity. The church, the place of worship, is the place to be; it’s the place that Jesus went when he realized he was lost. It’s the safe place to be, the hospital of the soul. Many conclude that Jesus didn’t consider himself lost; in a similar fashion, many are in the house of God, found themselves there, yet they do not believe they are lost because they know the Bible and can talk the talk. Jesus was found by his parents because he was lost. We misunderstand his statement; he was saying to his parents, “You should have known this is the place I will be.” I knew the scripture, and I was in the church but lost. As a matter of fact, a church told me I was not needed to be there because I quoted them the scripture. That was the best decision they may have made, even though it was done the wrong way, but it caused me to realize how lost in myself and my sins I was. Lost or not, sick or not, the church is the place to be found. Remember, doctors are found in the hospital too. So go to the place where the doctor for the soul resides.
