Jesus spent time in the church as a child growing up; the church and neighborhood had high expectations for him. They watched him follow the pathway that they wanted him to follow. Then they realized that he was not altogether what they wanted. Nothing that he did then, no matter how good, mattered to those in leadership or to those with influence; it all seemed wrong, and they wanted him out of the way. His crime? Not doing what they wanted and expected of him.
Jesus was quite happy and content doing what he did. So remember, life is but for a period of time, and we don’t know for how long. Therefore, whatever you choose to do, be like Christ, be content and happy doing it, and find joy along the way by helping someone in need. There will always be those who despise what you do, so keep God in your heart and do that which brings contentment and peace of mind.
