We often believe that God will most likely give revelation knowledge to those with degrees in biblical studies, but the Bible teaches a much different way. This is not to say that having those degrees is bad because the Bible does not condemn it. The Bible teaches us from its beginning to end that a relationship with God is of the greatest importance. Revelation is given as a result of a developed relationship.
Enoch walked over the threshold of mortality into immortality. Moses became the world’s greatest leader; his leadership is still taught today in places like Russia and China, despite their lack of belief in the Bible and dislike for God. Elijah called fire from heaven, Elisha restored life to the dead, Daniel survived the lion’s den, and the three Hebrew men survived the fiery furnace. While we may not know their exact ages, we know they were close to a hundred years old, either before or after. Anna was at least a hundred and eight years old, as they were in the temple at the time of Jesus’ dedication.
The great teachers and theologians of the day did not recognize Jesus, but these two did because God revealed it to them, all thanks to their relationships with Him. Simeon, to the amazement of all, said, “Lord, let now thy servant depart in peace, for mine eyes have seen the salvation which thou hast prepared before the face of all people, a light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.”
Seek a relationship with God; that’s how true knowledge and understanding of God and His ways are made known to you and me.
