As our thoughts and preparations in the coming weeks focus on Thanksgiving, it’s interesting to consider how we find reasons to celebrate and make plans for various occasions. Some of us cherish specific days, while others might not even acknowledge their own birthdays. But amidst all these days, there are two inevitable dates in our lives that we cannot avoid or postpone. No matter what we do, say, or plan, these two days remain fixed and unaffected in their significance.
The first of these two days is the day of our death, for it is appointed unto all men once to die. The second is the judgment day that follows. We all recognize that death is an inevitable part of life, yet many of us fail to make genuine preparations for that day. Perhaps it’s because we don’t want to contemplate the even more critical judgment day that looms ahead.
It’s essential to understand that nothing can be done after the day of our death to change or impact our judgment day. The most critical preparations we make should not only be for the day we depart from this world but also for the judgment day that determines our eternal destiny.
Remember, there are only two possible outcomes: heaven and hell. Believe it or not, this fact will not change. Therefore, it is crucial to think, choose, and prepare wisely. Jesus is the only way to heaven.
