Ellen G. White wrote the book called “The Great Controversy,” which I found not to be controversial after all. However, there is great controversy over God’s answer to King Solomon’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
While the founding fathers of the USA declared this nation to be “one nation under God,” God never called this nation “My People.” Only Israel did God call as a nation “My people called by my name.” Now, God is saying that if His people face pestilences or other forms of judgment due to their evil ways, they should humble themselves, pray, and turn from their evil ways. In return, He will hear, answer, forgive, and heal their land.
Believers today are called by the name of Jesus, and their promise is forgiveness, restoration, deliverance, and healing. This promise is for believers, not the nation as a whole. This aligns with biblical teachings. If you doubt this, consider Haiti. Has God healed their land yet? He provides for believers there despite the condition of the land. Many other nations await healing from God, but it will only happen when the nation’s leaders turn to God, humble themselves, repent, and pray, seeking God’s intervention to heal their land. This includes Haiti.
Today, as believers called by the name of Jesus Christ, we must ask God to heal our land, just as He promised to heal Israel’s land through humility, repentance, and seeking His face.
