Jesus came and died on the cross, paying the price for our sins. So, we often speak of our sins being nailed to the cross with Christ. Our sins are what carried Him and kept Him on the cross, where He died, satisfying the righteous justice of God the Father. While we think of God’s love, mercy, and His grace that brought Jesus to die in our place, how often do we think that it was not only our sins carried to that old rugged cross, but also the cross carried to Golgotha hill—the anger and wrath of God against sin was also on its way to be nailed to that cross.
Think of the dying words of Jesus on that cross: “My God, My God, why has Thou forsaken me?” God’s reply was earth-shaking, and darkness covered the land. As Jesus died, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom and opened. This event makes us understand that His anger and wrath against sin and sinners were nailed to the cross for our benefit. Had it not been so, God would have had to take Jesus down from that cross and pour out His anger on all responsible for His crucifixion at that moment. For in His earthly unjust judgment, it was declared, ‘There is no fault in Him!!’
This is today’s crosspoint. Have a blessed day.”
